Development League - U7-U9

There is no tiering or selection process, but our technical committee will attempt to balance the teams to create a competitive balance. There will be 1-2 training sessions a week, in groups rather than individual teams. Accommodating requests to play with friends is a priority.

Alliance League - U11 to U19

Division 2 & Division 3

Players will be evaluated and placed according to their development status and experience. Players will have two weekly practices. Coaches are appropriately certified. There is no assurance that friends will play on the same team.

Premier

The most experienced and competent players are invited to the Alliance Premier teams. Players must attend at least two practices per week. The environment is more demanding, and they will be proficient in the game. There is no assurance that friends will play on the same team.

NOTE: Players invited to the U13 Premier teams will be required to pay an additional fee to secure their roster spot, as they play 9v9 on a half field rather than 7v7 on a quarter field.

Alliance League evaluations will begin as early as August 28. All players are highly encouraged to attend. Click HERE to view the Indoor 2026-27 Evaluation Schedule.

Preseason training will begin as early as September 13. Players can expect 1-2 weekly practices that will be located outside at Umea Vast field (behind Lawson Heights Mall). Practices will then move Indoors after Thanksgiving.

*NEW THIS SEASON*

U11 Alliance players will be split into U10 and U11 teams/leagues when possible. If numbers do not permit, U10 and U11 players will be combined and play in the U11 league.

City Rec League - U11

Designed for those requiring a less demanding environment, the City Rec League provides a lower-cost program with one weekly practice. Beginner players, those needing time to develop or those sampling various sports often prefer the City Rec League program. Games are at the Henk Ruys facility, where the live boards reduce game stoppages and inherently provide training for faster reactions and agility. Coaches must satisfy the criteria required for their particular age group. Players choosing this option are asked to attend an evaluation for the purpose of balancing teams within the same age group to create fairness in competition. Requests to play with friends are given priority. There will be 1 weekly practice (on average) in a school gymnasium.

Click HERE to view evaluation times.

*NEW THIS SEASON*

The City Rec League program will only be offered for U11 players.

If a replacement uniform kit is required before the start of the Indoor 2028-29 season due to loss, damage, or the player outgrowing the uniform, the replacement cost will be the responsibility of the family.

What costs are associated with soccer?

  • Registration Fees are a set amount assessed to cover the costs of registering a team with Saskatoon Youth Soccer, technical staff, field rental costs, uniform costs, and other administrative fees. Administrative fees are assessed at a percentage of the SYSI, and technical costs cover equipment, team management systems, and all other costs of running the club.
  • Team fees are determined by the Team Manager in consultation with parents and coaching staff at the initial team meeting. These fees may include tournament entry fees, team social events, additional field time, coach appreciation gifts, and other team-related expenses. Team costs are shared evenly among all rostered players, and each family is responsible for their portion, regardless of individual participation in specific activities or tournaments.

After the minimum volunteer hours are fulfilled, the deposit will be credited towards the following season. At the end of the season, players not returning the next season, transferring zones, or aging out may request their deposit be refunded if they have completed their volunteer hours. If the minimum volunteer hours are not completed, the deposit will not be credited or refunded.
